'Italian' Harpsichord                               by Michael Cole c. 1990

This beautiful harpschord was built (c. 1990) in the traditional Italian style, with a delicate plain softwood (cypress?) case.

The compass is GG - d3, with a short and broken octave in the bass.  Thus the apparent BB key plays GG, the front portion of the apparent C# plays AA, and D# plays BB (or BB flat if preferred).

The two 8' registers are strung in Malcolm Rose brass, tuned to A415.  The length is 2,100 mm x 800 mm wide (82½" x 31½").  The registers would benefit from some adjustment.

It comes with a fitted padded travelling cover.  The price is £4,200, near offers considered.   It is in Blackheath, London.
