Harpsichord  by J & A Kirckman, 1775

It is not often that there is an opportunity to buy an original Kirkman harsichord in a private sale.  This one is a 1775 single manual , 8' 8' 4'

+ buff, with a pedal to control a machine stop for instant change of registration.   It was carefully restored by Andy and Robert Durand of The Music Room Workshop in 2006, and has been used for many professional recitals and recordings - a CD is available.

The case features the splendid traditional English brassware.  The soundboard rose carries the intials 'I K'  (Iacobus Kirckman) on either side of the image of King David playing his harp.

In compliance with the UK Ivory Act 2018, this instrument has been registered for exemption; code EZ7KRHQT.

It may be seen by appointment with Andy at The Music Room Workshop near Haslemere.  Contact details and more information about the restoration is on the website  https://www.musicroomworkshop.co.uk/
