Broadwood 1804/5
This elegant Broadwood has been comparatively recently restored, and has been lovingly cared-for. The ivories and beautiful satinwood nameboard are in excellent condition.
The serial number clearly corresponds to a date of 1804, possibly 1805, but this piano , although still with a single action, has Southwell-type overhead dampers generally used after 1805/6.
The hammers look good, and the stringing pattern of open-covered copper on brass / brass / steel is correct.
The soundboard and bridge are good.
The seller assures us that the piano is in playing order, although slight easing of one or two treble keys might be necessary. It is in Kneeshall, Nottinghamshire; the ivory exemption code is ZEUJHPDV. The price is £350.
