This attractive 5½-octave Longman & Broderip is number 396 in the series, dating from 1796. It benefits from the Geib escapememt action and the Southwell 'dolly' dampers, the patents for both of which were licensed to L&B.
The nameboard is decorated with an early example of the individually-painted flower motifs.
It was carefully restored around 1990. As found it is completely out-of-tune, and some of the notes require adjustment. But all of the bits appear to be there, and no serious problems are apparent - The soundboard and bridge seem to be OK in a video clip I have seen. Too big to attach to this website, but the seller may be able to send the file on request. However, as always, prospective purhasers should examine the instrument for themselves if possible.
The French stand is designed to be dismantled for transport. It is held together by a large bed-bolt at each corner. These require an enormous screwdriver - I made my own!
The piano is in Woking, Surrey, at the home of the seller's parents. He is in Australia, but will be happy to ask a member of the family to arrange a viewing. The price is £500, Ivory Exemption Code 1YN867MQ.
