NORVIS 2024

NORVIS is the full week-long early music summer school in County Durham which is described as one of the UK’s longest-established and friendliest. Sign up for our 52nd summer school, NORVIS 2024, taking place at Barnard Castle School, next door to the splendid Bowes Museum, from 3rd – 10th August 2024, If you love playing early music, a week at NORVIS will enable you to progress. Instruments taught include recorders, viols, lutes and guitars, baroque strings, harpsichord and voices. Repertoire from early Renaissance to late Baroque. The principal harpsichord tutor is John Treherne MBE who is a specialist on keyboard period instruments. We run a technique class every morning, followed by the opportunity to play in ensembles of various kinds.
