This fine instrument was the property of the late Sir David Lumsden from new. It was made when the seller, Fergus Hoey, was working with David Rubio, and Fergus has been looking after it for most of its life. He has recently conducted a refurbishment.
The keyboard is transposable for A415 or A440. This harpsichord is offered on the basis that the ivory sharp-tops (customary in those pre-CITES days) will be replaced with bone or another alternative before the sale, thus freeing it from all CITES or export complications into the future.
Schütze jacks. 2 x 8' + 4', the fourth row of jacks are equipped with peau de buffle plectra.
Ingeneously, the buff stop is arranged so that it can operate on either set of 8' strings.
The beautiful soundboard paintings are by Josephine Scotney.
The harpsichord is in the Norwich area (Norfolk, UK).
Offers in the region of £14,500 considered.
