Tomkison 1817 FtGH

This Regency piano by Thomas Tomkison , number 4394, does need a full restoration  - good news that the pedal is there!  It has been in the same family for more than a century, and now seeks a new home.

Nice Ivories!  As an unconditional gift, this one does not require registration for exemption under the UK Ivory Act 2018.

It seems that it has not been 'interfered with', which is always a good start for a restoration project.  Some of the hammers are loose - the dampers appear to be all there.

Some of the under-hammers are also loose.  The wrestpins look good.  The bass strings might be serviceable after cleaning.  The plain strings should be replaced, but those that are still there will serve as a guide.

The crack at the back edge of the soundboard would be easy to repair from above, but as long as the ribs and bridge are secure, it probably makes no difference to the sound.

This piano is offered Free to Good Home.  It is in a first-floor flat in North London; appropriate arrangements will need to be made for collection.
