Broadwood 1830                                        Free to Good Home

This Broadwood is number 38109.  Good to see that the pedal is present.

'Makers to His Majesty and the Princesses' - made in the last year of the reign of George IV.  Note the elegant brass inlay and frets on the rosewood nameboard.

The strings appear to have been replaced at some time in the past, but some attention is needed them now, and also to the dampers, but the hammers do appear to have been neatly recovered.  The brass lever visible in the centre of the picture above would indicate that this one has the improved action with back-checks; when correctly adjusted, these do significantly improve the playing experience.  This was a top-of-the-range piano.

Good to see that the green shade is present.  This piano is generously being offered Free to Good Home.  As an unconditional gift, it does not require registration under the UK Ivory Act 2018, which applies to all sales of ivory.

The piano is in Rothbury, Northumberland.
