Grand Piano by Érard c. 1868

More Details - it's looking good!

This beautiful full-size (8' 4") London-made Érard has a full seven-octave compass, and features a burr walnut case with hexagonal legs.  The serial number is 10774

Inscribed 'Patent Erard London' in brass inlay.

It is straight-strung; the frame is part-metal with four metal bars and one cross-bar.

In the image above we see the arrangement of the barring and the string-plate.  Also the under-damper action. Information from Gardiner Houlgate confirms that this lovely piano is in full playing order, and has just been tuned.  Surely for the early romantic composers this clear-toned straight-strung instrument is the ideal piano.

The estimate for this beautiful piano is just £200 - £300.  Surely it deserves to do better than that.
