Collard & Collard 1858

Numbers 11121 (stamped)  55174 (ink)

This splendid 'Grand Square' by Collard & Collard is one of the largest English squares, with a 6¾-octave compass from CC to a4.

The lid is a stunning piece of wood, which (very unusually) appears to be figured walnut.  The same wood is used on the nameboard and case, including the back.

Structural stability is ensured by two steel bars and a string-plate.

The seller assures us that all the strings are present and correct, and it is holding tune at A415.

The music desk matches the interior fretwork, all in the same figured walnut.

Legs and pedal are present and correct.

We're happy to say that this lovely piano now has a new home.
