Clementi 1829 - Sold

This handsome Clementi was being played regularly until a year or so ago, but it is now looking for a new home.

'Clementi & Company London' - one of the last to bear the Clementi name alone, but very much a Collard & Collard.  Note the lyre pedal.

The stamped number 1180 places it in the Grand Square series.  The ink number 24357 confirms it as 1829.  One of the first to use the Stewart Patent, whereby the plain wire strings loop round the hitchpin and return (seen below).  This system is universal on pianos today, with the exception of Bösendorfer grands.
