This early Broadwood is numbered 1481. It is a restoration project on which a lot of work has already been done, but there remains more to do. The case is generally good, with the music shelf still there.
Beautiful 'Latin' script: this changed to 'John Broadwood & Son', in English, in 1793 when James Shudi Broadwood was made partner in the firm.
This one had lost its early-style straight dampers, but is now provided with a full set of replicas made by David Law. All the wrestpins are present. The nut had failed as is often the case with these early Broadwoods, and the replacement now needs to be pinned.
