Thomas Preston (son of John Preston, d. 1798) was at 97 Strand until 1824, but the style of this piano and the Latin presentation of the inscription suggest a date perhaps ten years or so before that.
This very handsome piano presents with all six legs and the vital pedal intact, and a good case with exceptional brasswork.
It does need restoration: internally it looks generally pretty good, except for a dozen or so missing hammers, but it's good to see that the green resonance-board (not 'dust-cover, please!) has survived.
The piano is on the Isle of Wight; the price is £600. Please contact the owner, John Pollard
